Just a simple place to keep ideas because repeating oneself on Twitter is a pain.

The title of the blog is a nod to Taylor Anderson's Destroyermen series.

Abortion

I don’t care what anyone is trying to sell you about abortion. Abortion isn’t going anywhere. It may go away regionally but probably not forever. It is hard to come by in some places but that is by design.

The reason abortion isn’t going to go anywhere is because both of the dominant political parties want it just like it is. They can scare you into voting for them. Democrats like the fact that abortion is legal. They also like the fact that there are access issues. That’s what keeps the (D) chasers scared and voting Democrat. Republicans like the fact that abortion is legal. They also like the fact that there are access issues. The promise of repeal and the fear of expansion keep the (R) chasers voting Republican. Whatever you believe about how anxious your representatives are to do your will in legislative houses is a bunch of bullshit. Politicians don’t work for you. There are several George Carlin videos on YouTube that can explain it better than I.

Now that you’re aware that abortion isn’t going anywhere and why, let’s quit with all the coy phraseology about abortion. Top on my list is, “A fetus might become a person.” I fear that people who say this really believe that a fetus might become a person, or a player piano, or a tachyon emitter. A fetus will become a person or it will die along the journey to becoming a person. There really isn’t a third alternative. Now that I’ve criticized a common but pretty lame-ass support of abortion I will probably be misidentified as being prolife. Whatever. Basque in your wrongness.
